Last Epoch offers five base classes (Sentinel, Rogue, Mage, Primalist, Acolyte), each with three masteries (subclasses) that unlock unique skills and playstyles. Pick a class that fits your preferred gameplay and focus on building around one or two core skills initially. This helps streamline leveling and progression without overwhelming complexity.

Press G in-game to open the comprehensive game guide, which explains mechanics, skills, crafting, and more. The in-game wiki is also highly recommended as a quick reference for stats, crafting recipes, and game systems, helping you make informed decisions as you play.
3. Leveling Tips
- Follow the campaign story to unlock skill points, passive points, and idol slots.
- Prioritize completing quests that reward passive points or idol slots to strengthen your character efficiently.
- Use loot filters early to highlight valuable gear like movement speed boots or weapons that fit your build.
- Avoid Hardcore mode on your first playthrough to reduce frustration from permadeath.
4. Crafting Early and Often
Crafting is a core part of Last Epoch’s progression. Use crafting materials to improve your gear and reroll affixes. Items like the Rune of Removal and Scroll of Chaos help optimize your gear by removing or changing affixes. Building a good shard collection early will pay off later for crafting powerful items.
5. Manage Your Inventory and Stash
Keep your inventory organized and use your stash wisely. Upgrade your stash tabs when possible to hold more gear and crafting materials. This prevents clutter and makes it easier to find important items when you need them.
6. Experiment and Respec
Don’t hesitate to experiment with different skills and passives. You can respec most skills and passive points easily, except for your mastery choice, which is permanent. This flexibility lets you adapt your build as you learn more about the game.
